SCHEDULE SUBJECT TO CHANGE

The training schedule will adjust accordingly. The above table is just an example. We reserve the right to adjust the program any way we feel will best support the students as a whole. There will be days where you will be expected to drop everything and follow us on a new schedule. Travel schedules vary greatly and are determined almost on the spot and or set down by the instructor as he/she sees fit.

Typically, long term programs operate on a 9-5 training program. After running camps and group training programs for the last 20 years, we have found this to be the best schedule for students to follow and still be able to handle their personal needs. However, training is never limited and many students train from early morning to well into the night. As we want to adjust to your own strengths and weaknesses we offer an easy program to follow and then provide extra special early morning and evening classes that focus on a specific skill or adventure.

OPEN SCHEDULE
This period is left open for sudden developments and activities at CMS. It will usually be one of the following:

  • Challenge Specific Training
  • Clean Up and Organize
  • Personal Time / Training
  • Focused Training Session

Challenge Specific Training
Challenge Specific Training will be unique exercises that require students to participate in training drills outside of the regular martial arts class. This could be compared to the painting of the fence as seen in “Karate Kid.” Students will be asked to perform work that an Instructor feels will build character. The only advice we can offer here is to expect the unexpected and maintain a positive attitude.

Clean Up and Organize
This time will be used to focus on getting and keeping things in a proper order. This could be property clean up, personal clean up or simply organizing gear for an upcoming outdoor adventure.

Personal Time
This time will be your own to use as you so desire. Students can read a book, start training in a new area, focus on home study courses or spend more time on the mat.

Focused Training Session
Many students will be attending CMS with a specific goal in mind and or to attain certification in a specific skill. This could be to become a martial arts instructor, lose weight, get in better shape, improve the memory, adventure, balance out the spirit etc. We have classes designed to focus on these goals and these classes are usually held on specific days at specific times outside the regular training schedule. Follow is a small list of some of the focused training classes we offer at CMS:

  • PSC - Personal Security Course (self-defense and bodyguarding)
  • King of the Mat (MMA and full contact fight training - from stand up to ground grappling)
  • EASI-A Memory Program (improve your retention with our proven system mental recording)
  • How to Teach the Martial Science (for students looking for a future as an instructor)
  • Winjitsu the mental martial art (personal management and self-image building course)
  • Traditional weapons (nunchaku, sai, blade throwing and other less modern weapons training)
  • Tactical training and movement (stealth, urban operations, firearms training, paintball etc)
  • Jungle Survival (how to live off the land and survive in the jungles of Thailand)
  • Rock Climbing (everything from basic climbing knots to setting up a top rope and leading a climb)
  • Holistic awareness (living naturally, meditation and how to release)
  • Muay Thai Kickboxing (learn real Muay Thai training)
  • Kettle Bell Training (learn the new science of body - strength and power conditioning)
  • Social Warrior (learn to communicate and build rapport - extension to Winjitsu)

Note that most of the above programs offer certification upon completion and many of them will be introduced during our regular training schedule.

MARTIAL SCIENCE
A Martial Science class is traditionally two hours in length. Students will participate in any number of activities that usually repetition in a variety of skills. Typically we will combine sign in meditation, warm up, stances, rolls, falls, strikes, kicks, body movement and self-defense into a fun - fast paced class.

MARTIAL FITNESS
This period of time is devoted to giving students the opportunity to learn our Fitness Kickboxing routine as well as stay in shape internally. Since we conduct these twice a week, students can use personal time on the weekends to get in a minimum of 3 days a week of high impact cardio training. Of course you are more than welcome to join instructors on our regular early morning runs.

OPEN MAT
This is time you can use to work on anything you want to practice and still have instructors available to help you with your training. It is not for learning NEW material, but instead for practicing a specific skill or drill and or getting the chance to train with different partners.

LEVELS SEMINAR
In Levels Seminar (also known as the Sensei Seminar) CMS students are allowed to choose one subject from their workbooks / levels guide that they would like to focus on. This is done with each student until all of the students have given a specific thing that they would like to learn. The class then continues as students are taught and then given time to practice each skill. The idea is to give each student something to focus on that will bring them closer to their next level / rank.

If there are 10 students, then there will usually be about 10 skills that will be taught and practiced in that class. With this format we are able to assist all of the students in every class. Since Rick Tew’s Martial Science is taught in a very flexible manner - unlike most systems that first teach stances, then rolls and then kicks for example; at CMS a student will learn a wide variety of skills in every class. This strategy allows us to receive students at any given time during CMS without having to sacrifice any knowledge that would have been taught on a traditional plan.

FREESTYLE FORMS
We have created specific training forms designed to teach students the basics in the martial arts and give them a functional (not for looks) form that can be used to perfect their skills. Some of the forms you will learn include:

  • 1-40 Form (almost every basic concept of the martial science in one fun, action packed sequence)
  • Strikes and Kicks Form (all of your strikes and kicks and how to apply them to a bag or partner)
  • Rolls and Falls Form (designed to improve and develop your self-defense against the ground)

WEAPONS
This class will be focused on training with martial arts weapons - both modern and traditional (although we offer a focused class on traditional weapons for students looking to get more training in a traditional weapon). Our main foundational weapons are the stick, knife, staff and sword.

AUDIO STRETCH
Have you ever wanted to be able to do the splits? This class is all about stretching. But we don’t just stretch the body, we also stretch the mind. During your stretching sessions we play audio programs that are designed to improve your mental skills. This could be Mozart or a Motivational Tape Program from a popular speaker.

WINJITSU
Not only do we teach the Martial Science, but Rick Tew has also created a mental martial art system that he calls Winjitsu. For serious students of self-management we offer this program as a specialized course for more in depth training and development. In this class you will learn from one of the 5 areas that Winjitsu teaches:

  1. ACE (Achieving Combined Excellence)
  2. MAK (Motivation Action and Knowledge
  3. MBS (Mind - Body and Spirit)
  4. NRG (Neuro Reasons for Growth)
  5. CMS (Creative Mental Training

ADVENTURE
There will be days will be organized events or trips to unique locations for training, adventure or just an escape to the outdoors. Some of the days will be trips to the park for sports, training or other events. We might also visit the town for a movie or travel to a theme park. There are times when we leave for extended periods of time. When this happens, we drop the regular schedule and follow the Travel or Adventure Schedule. Since you will have weekends and evenings off you will be able to participate in any number of activities that you organize or join in with other students. Here are a few examples:

  • Mountain Biking
  • Motocross Riding
  • Elephant Riding
  • Hike to Hot Springs
  • Visit local National Parks
  • Rock Climbing
  • Motorcycle or Moped Cruising
  • River Rafting

WEEKENDS
Saturday and Sunday is reserved for the students as OFF DAYS. They can rest after a long week of training and adventure. The weekend is also used to organize personal needs. Most students will spend their time relaxing and preparing for the next week, however it is still possible to train and practice what you have learned so far.
